2021 has been busy for the 307 Real Estate team both in real estate sales but also in growing our team of agents across all our offices in northern Wyoming. We are excited to announce that Michelle Alquist recently joined our Powell office! Keep reading to learn more about Michelle and why she’s excited about real estate and joining the 307 team.
307: Tell us a little more about yourself and your background.
Michelle: I was born and raised in Burlington, Wyoming, and graduated from high school in Burlington. I was very active and did a lot of sports including volleyball, basketball, and track. My family and I were always outside, and I grew up hunting, hiking, and camping all over Wyoming.
After I graduated from high school, I went to Northwest College n Powell for 2 years and then finished my degree at the University of Wyoming where I got a degree in Business Administration and Finance. I then came back to Burlington where I worked as an administrative assistant for 3-4 years and then worked for a bank for around a year.
I moved to Texas for the next year and a half after I married my husband who was in the military. Our daughter was born there and then moved to Powell after that. I worked at Eastside Elementary as an administrative assistant to help finish out a school year, and then our son Cullen was born.
I was introduced to 307 Real Estate when (Cody agent) Ty Pedersen helped us sell our house and find a new house in Powell where we live today.
307: What were the experiences that led you to want to work in real estate and with 307?
I have always had an interest in real estate. I bought my first house with the intent to make a profit on it – it was a typical ugly house, I bought it for a good price and then made a bunch of cosmetic refinishes. I sold it when we moved out of town a couple of years ago.
After having such a great experience with Ty, I started to become more interested in being an agent myself. I decided to email him and then got started in the process to get my license, and here we are.
307: What do you find most interesting about the real estate industry?
I am excited to meet people and find out what they want in a property. I love seeing the potential that a house can have for someone. The beauty and the curse of this area are that the market probably won’t have exactly what you want right away, but if you can visualize it, you can make it happen.
With such low inventory right now, it can be hard for people to get what they are looking for, so we have to get a little creative. I really enjoy helping people see the possibilities of what a property could offer.
307: Why Wyoming? What do you love about living here and what do you hope to share with others?
Michelle: I grew up as a farm kid, and I love that about Wyoming. I am passionate about agriculture, which is why we chose to live in Powell. We are 10 minutes away from the grocery store but we can still look out our windows and see the tractors working the dirt.
My husband is from Powell so it has been an easy settling place for us, and my family is still in Burlington, which isn’t too far away. Our kids are young and it’s comforting to know the majority of the community. We love to go to the mountains on the weekends, and we enjoy seeing nothing and nobody for miles around.
My in-laws have a cabin up the North Fork so we spend a lot of time up there. My husband loves to hunt, and we just enjoy spending time with our family outdoors. We often take our kids for long drives to help them calm down – they love seeing the horses and the cows, and we want them to grow up seeing nature out the car windows rather than buildings and billboards.
We hope that you will help us in giving Michelle a very warm welcome to the 307 Real Estate team! You can find her working mostly in the Powell office but also over in Cody every now and then. If you need to reach her, you can give her a call at 307-272-8895
