As a country, we have seen a lot happen over the last few months. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have started to see a rise in people that are interested in exploring the Wyoming real estate market. We have been busy showing this great state to families from Oregon, California, New York, and many other states.
Since we have been seeing such an increase in out-of-staters looking to come to Wyoming, we thought we would share a little bit more about why Wyoming real estate is flying off the shelves…..
Wyoming is the least populated state in the country (fewer than 600,000 people live here)
Wyoming has the second lowest population density (after Alaska)
There are no cities in the state that have a population over 100,000 people
We have access to mountains, lakes, rivers, hills, basins, plains – you name it, we have it.
The stargazing is second to no other state
We have no state income tax – so if you are self-employed (or even if you’re not), Wyoming is a great spot to be.

We have several iconic national parks in our state – Yellowstone was the first national park in the United States and was established in 1872, and Grand Teton National Park is spectacular
We asked a few of our agents to talk a little bit more about why they love Wyoming and also the trends that they have been seeing in working with clients over the last few months. Keep reading to hear Ryan, Ty and J.R. give their thoughts.
“Just a few facts about why Wyoming is so special to me:
1) Hunting in the Rocky Mountains – we are able to hunt a variety of environments with all the Rocky Mountain birds and small/large game.
2) Outdoor Sports Variety including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, trail riding, camping, four wheeling etc. all within 90-minute drive.
3) Vacant land & unobstructed mountain views – no matter where you look you can see the mountains while being isolated within minutes of town or in the wilderness.”

“There are so many reasons to love Wyoming, but for me, it is the 300+ days of sunshine and the clean, fresh air. There are so many opportunities here for getting outside. Fishing is at the top of my list and Wyoming, especially Cody, offers great fishing and quick access to other destinations for fishing opportunities. Wyoming is also one of the few non-disclosure states for reporting sales prices, so that is a plus for our private clients that don’t want to the whole world knowing how much they are buying their property for.”

“As a local real estate agent in Sheridan, Wyoming with my 307 Real Estate Team, I am also a Zillow Premier Agent. I receive approximately 4-10 leads a week from Zillow. I have noticed a large increase in out of area buyers inquiring about property in Sheridan County. I believe there will be an increase in inquiries about our area like we have not experienced before.”
J.R. Moore, Sheridan office
